The EU Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) requires importers of steel, cement, aluminium and other goods to report the embedded emissions of what they bring into the European Union. The producers of those goods — most of them outside the EU — must supply emissions data their buyers and the buyers’ verifiers can rely on.
